We were very pleased with our two-night stay at this clean well-organized attractive home. As a historian, I liked the well-done blend of historic home with updated tasteful decor and conveniences. We enjoyed the outside 2nd-floor deck for expansive views of the river and rumble of trains below. I also appreciated timely clear email communication from the owner prior, during and after our stay. I would easily return and highly recommend this Great River Road Inn.
This is a charming updated house. The rates are reasonable, and the contactless check-in was easy. We stayed in suite # 2, upstairs. It is a very spacious room, well decorated with lovely front windows facing the river. The small outdoor balcony access is shared with another room. There is a kitchen upstairs and a refrigerator to store food items. The bed was very comfortable, however, linens were microfiber. I think cotton would have been a nice upgrade. The room temperature was too warm for us, and only two windows that opened had screens. There's no individual cooling control in the room, only 1 small fan. Large private bathroom is down the hall. This was no issue for us. However, there were no other guests at the time. Remember, this is an old house, so floor boards are creaky, and walls are not as soundproof. They provide earplugs. Overall, it is lovely with lots of character.
Just got back from another wonderful weekend renting the downstairs of the Inn. Everything was perfect, lovely views of the river and amazing for train watching. The beds are so comfortable and the whole house is set up for a very relaxing get away!Love, Love, Love this Inn!! We have been coming to Great River Road Inn for years and it NEVER disappoints. Love the charm of the older home with all the amenities you could want. My Sister and I have either rented the Farmhouse Apartment or Suite 2 & 4 with the adjoining upper balcony. Always peaceful, relaxing and a wonderful time to unwind. Beautiful views of the river with incredible sunsets. Thanks for providing such an amazing place!!
We rented the farmhouse apartment. Very spacious and inviting. Entire apartment was very clean. We loved it and would definitely return. My husband really enjoyed watching the trains. The wood floors are beautiful.
My daughter and I stayed here while visiting St. Mary's University. Great River Road Inn was so charming and spotless! We absolutely loved it and will be back again for sure!
My husband and I recently stayed here and we loved it. It is extremely clean and well kept. We stayed in Suite #2 with the view of the Mississippi. Logan the owner, made it easy and was great with checking in on us. The house is in a great little town, it’s a must stay!
Great view of the river and nice place. A freight train along with the river runs just in front - can't ignore either :)
This inn is a wonderful spot for exploring the area. We stayed in the Farmhouse Suite, and it had plenty of space to spread out and enjoy. Lovely windows in the living room to view the river! It is close to Winona for restaurants and coffee shops. Visiting Kinstone (only a few miles away) is a highlight of the location.
Loved this place! Wonderful use of a beautiful historic home. Enjoyed the peacefulness of the small town and looking at the downtown architecture. Sat on private balcony and really enjoyed the river view. Great location if you are going to visit Kinstone.
Great place to stay. We loved it. Easy walk to downtown and nice view of the river.
Beautiful, spacious. The 2 kitchens made it easy for us to keep one of them glutin free, and it was furnished and decorated so well. Enjoyed watching barges being pushed upriver with a tow boat, and wonderful roomy spaces for our family reunion. Thank you.
We were three couples who graduated from high school several years ago reuniting for a few days. This house was perfect. It was well kept and the owners thought of everything that we needed. We were within walking distance of restaurants/bars. The view from the porch was awesome.
Great home! We rented the entire house. It was quiet with peaceful views. All the rooms were very comfortable and there was plenty of space for everyone. Getting checked in and out was super easy with keyless entry. Highly recommend staying here.

We had a marvelous time at the great River Road inn. Suite No. 2 was spacious and very comfortable. Loved the large bathroom, even though it wasn’t attached. Screen on the porch door would have been handy to keep the mosquitoes out and some fresh air in!
I absolutely loved staying here! The owners were very accommodating to my situation. I’m a traveling nurse and stayed in suite #3 for three months(January-March) Very nice room with a beautiful view and had everything I needed! Personal coffee maker, Full kitchen, personal patio, own bathroom, and laundry. I couldn’t have asked for more! They are a very nice couple and will do anything they can to make your stay as comfortable as possible! I highly recommend this Airbnb for even a weekend! It’s the perfect get away!! 😊
Really nice place to rent a room in Fountain City/Winona area - great views of the Mississippi. Very clean and comfortable.
I stayed in suite #2 for four nights. Beautiful view, beautiful room! I had a very lovely stay. I would just note, because I didn't realize this from the description, that the bathroom for suite #2 is down the hall from the room. It was an inconvenience for me, but I would definitely stay again, just in a room that has a bathroom in it. They have a beautiful back porch and front porch, as well as a full kitchen available to use.
I just LOVE it here! My husband and I had gone in the past and were so taken in by the charm of this beautiful inn! My sister, mother, and I recently escaped for a girls night away and had THE BEST time! This is such a comfortable and sweet place to relax and spend time with loved ones ❤️
Stayed here for our anniversary and it is beautiful! The view is gorgeous! Dinner was so good at the Golden frog down the street, we ate there for breakfast! Will definitely stay again!!
Fabulous self-service style homes/rooms for rent along the Mississippi River in Wisconsin. The proprietors have done a wonderful job of equipping/decorating these homes. It's like stepping into a Pottery Barn photo shoot. You'll love the attention to detail. Think of staying here as a Bed and Breakfast without the breakfast.
